About the contributor
Daniel leads a small weekly gathering focused on questions more than answers.
The year I stopped going
I didn't have one dramatic reason. It was more that the answers I'd been given stopped fitting the questions I actually had, and I got tired of pretending otherwise.
What the years away were actually for
I thought leaving meant I'd resolved something. Really it just gave me room to ask the questions honestly for the first time, without worrying about the answer I was supposed to land on.
Coming back to something smaller
What I came back to wasn't the same shape as what I left. It's quieter, less certain, and somehow sturdier for it.
